Today is a glorious Thursday! The sun is shining, the birds are singing and Spring finally feels as though it has wrestled the valley from Winter's icy grasp! So without further ado- duh duh duh!!!!- Today's WOD:
Begin with a 500m row then-
(4x)
10 Burpees
10 Sumo Deadlift High Pull(35lbs Carlie/53lbs Micah)
with a 200m sandbag run after the 2nd and 4th rounds(30lbs Carlie/75lbs Micah)
Carlie 10:22
Micah 9:35
Today's WOD was a good one, definitely an anaerobic burn to be sure! The row was a good kick in the pants to get you going, the burpees sucked as per usual, and that sandbag was... well, heavy. It makes it really hard to get a good stride in your run with that much weight on your shoulders, so I found myself just taking little penguin-waddle steps(I looked so graceful!). But afterward it felt really awesome and it put me in a good mood to take on the rest of my day. Crossfit in the morning is great because after you're done you know the hardest part of your day is over!
(Read on if you'd like a little sage-like wisdom)
I'm going to let all you flogging readers out there in on a little secret... Nobody, and I mean -NOBODY- wants to get out of bed at 5 in the morning. You can come up with a million excuses as to why you should just stay in bed and go back to sleep, BUT nothing feels as great as driving home with the sunrise over the mountains and knowing that you've already accomplished so much while others are still rubbing the boogers out of their eyes! Carlie and I struggle to get up everyday. We sit up and give each other that look as if to say, "If you don't go I won't..." and we sit and wait for the other to crack. But finally one of us gives in to the nagging voice of bettering ourselves and we get dressed and head out. And do you know what? I have NEVER once regretted it! I have never ever got done with a workout and thought "I should have just stayed home." It's just awesome how much better your day goes when you get up and face the day head on. I guess it really is true- the early bird gets the worm. And as everyone knows worms are a low in fat. Chew on that!
